Two beautiful sisters-Carlsbad, NM child photographer

I had the opportunity to go to my home town and photograph some of my friends children and even grandchildren. These two sisters are so beautiful. I knew the camera would love them the minute I saw them! Look out, daddy!

I heart faces-Babies Challenge

This has to be the hardest challenge for me because of the number of newborns I photograph. I selected this photo because I love how you see the detail of his tiny nose, fingers and toes. I just love babies! Click on the link below to see other awesome entries!

Molly Class of 2010 Senior-Denton senior photographer

What a natural beauty. This location was a perfect match for Molly. She was a trooper. It was hot and humid here today! It was so great to meet you, Molly. Your inner beauty matches your outer beauty.

Luke (9 months) DFW baby photographer

It is so much fun for me to capture these babies as they grow. Luke is now 9 months old. So cute and such a sweet baby boy. He has the bluest eyes I think I have seen on a baby. I just love the sweet picture with his dad, too.

Handsome Brothers-Collin and Josh (1 yr and 7 yrs old) Highland Village children's photographer

I had a fun session this morning with these two handsome brothers. Younger brother, Collin, gave me a run for my money. He even made me sing and I try not to do that outside the confines of my shower. Older brother, Josh, was ready for his close up. Honestly, I was thinking he would make an awesome model. I loved meeting this family. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Photography tips for parents-keep the background simple

I did a quick post on my facebook page and asked if any of you would be interested in getting tips on how to capture better images of your children. Many people said they would be interested. I'm a simple woman, and my illustrations will be simple but sometimes that is often what we forget. I also need you to help me and comment to let me know if this is helpful or "like" my fan page and tell me what else you would like to know.

My first lesson is keep the background simple. I know this is often easier said than done when you are trying to capture children, but less is more. I am going to use some recent pictures for illustration.

Ace-blue wagon

This wagon was an awesome color and really brought out his eyes. I also cropped in really close because I didn't want to show the parking lot in the background.

Kinley-white picket fence and ivy

I drove past this area and thought it would be an awesome background. This is along a greenbelt and this was someone's back fence with overgrown ivy. Again, this is a simple background, but it really added to the picture

Brooke-brick wall

I recently did a senior session. I used the side of my neighbors house. I used careful tilting of my camera to hide the air conditioner and other meters on the side of the house. When I converted it to black and white, it looks quite dramatic.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. Take advantage of the simple backgrounds where you are taking your pictures. There are times you want to convey what is going on, but there also ways to make it look like there is no one else around. I hope this helps!

Brooke is a natural beauty. I am so excited to have her as one of my senior reps. We had a lot of fun trying to capture these images before the rain.

I am now doing senior pictures. Be sure to spread the word!
