My United Colors Project-DFW Children's photographer

In the fall, I was feeling really burned out and wanted something different for myself. My friend and mentor Jean Smith of Jean Smith Photography suggested doing a session for myself-something I would find interesting and challenging. I'm so glad she suggested it because it got me over my funk and I was able to get inspired for the Christmas rush!

When I was younger, I used to love the advertisements from Bennetton. They had a "united colors" theme where they used models of different ethnicities and I loved the contrast. I used it as inspiration to do some pictures of my daughter and her friends. It is so amazing to me that she has such diversity in her friends already!

I am so thankful for all the moms who brought their daughters to be part of this session. It meant a great deal to me. I hope you enjoy the photos!

The stunning "s" girls-DFW child photographer

I posted their family pictures last blog post, but these girls deserved a post of their own. I normally do pictures of children that are the age of my own so I am used to chasing them and making silly faces. These girls were the perfect age and really wanted to have great pictures. The moment I saw them I knew I wanted some pictures of them with serious faces. It was a little tough at first, but then they wanted to do them every time. I had to coax them to smile. They are stunning little women and were such a pleasure to photograph.

And who doesn't love a picture of daddy with his daughters?

I feel like the blog has suffered some major neglect! I have photographed some of the cutest kids and families. Here is a little of what I have been up to.

Jack is one-Irving, TX children's photographer

I love this story. Jack's parent have some awesome friends. They looked up photographers and ran across my website. They then gave Jack's mom a gift certificate for a session with me. Coolest.Friends.Ever! So if you never need a unique gift idea--a session gift certificate is available!

Mom decided to use the session to document Jack's first birthday. This guy is the cutest. They also brought Fred to the session-Jack's faithful companion. There is just something about a little guy and his dog.

This is mom's favorite!

My new friend Berkeley

We went to Lubbock for Easter and made a new friend. My mother-in-law had a new neighbor and she is my son's age. She came over after she heard my son crying about one of his toys in the front yard. She wanted to see what was going on. He was being 2. She understood his dilemma. We invited her over to come and play and they were fast friends. I immediately grabbed my camera. She had me at hello. I mean, look at those eyes and eyelashes. She is so adorable and so sweet. We couldn't have asked for a better friend. Things ended with a hug which is huge coming my from my little one. We look forward to many more years of visits while we are in town!

Cooper 1 year session-Flower Mound Child Photographer

This session was filled with balloons and sugar, which I highly recommend and in that order. Cooper turned one and we did a smash cake session. It is so fun to watch since no two children react the same to cake. Let's just say he is a fan! Underneath that red, clown looking mouth of his was a smile. His parents were so good and moved all their furniture out of the way, so we had the whole living room to chase him. Thanks for a fun session, Cooper!

The Brumley kids in black and white-DFW children's photographer

Do not adjust your monitors. This post is really in black and white. I am generally a color photo person, but I have clients who prefer black and white. I do have to agree that these photos are wonderful in black and white. So enjoy something a little different today.

Luke is one! DFW Children's Photographer

Luke is one! I know I posted his birthday party recently, but this is his actual one year session. We went out to some land owned by the family's friend. It was a great place to capture Luke. He isn't walking yet, but he is at the equally scary fast crawling stage! He sure likes to climb, too. You have to look closely at the picture of him on the John Deere tractor. It was like he was doing his own stunts! It was such a pleasure to capture him again. I can't believe all the babies I started out photographing are turning one! I am so glad to get to be part of their lives! Here is what Luke looked like at his newborn session.

Kinley's 1 year session-DFW Children's photographer

It was my sincere pleasure to do Kinley's one year pictures. She was the first baby I photographed professionally. It has been amazing to watch her grow and change. It is one of the amazing parts of being a photographer. Her parents are Green Bay fans and love UT! I guess that was kind of obvious, right! Enjoy your sneak peek, mom and dad. She is gorgeous and wonderful for hanging through the humidity this morning!
