I had a fun session this morning with these two handsome brothers. Younger brother, Collin, gave me a run for my money. He even made me sing and I try not to do that outside the confines of my shower. Older brother, Josh, was ready for his close up. Honestly, I was thinking he would make an awesome model. I loved meeting this family. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Photography tips for parents-keep the background simple
I did a quick post on my facebook page and asked if any of you would be interested in getting tips on how to capture better images of your children. Many people said they would be interested. I'm a simple woman, and my illustrations will be simple but sometimes that is often what we forget. I also need you to help me and comment to let me know if this is helpful or "like" my fan page and tell me what else you would like to know.
My first lesson is keep the background simple. I know this is often easier said than done when you are trying to capture children, but less is more. I am going to use some recent pictures for illustration.
Ace-blue wagon
This wagon was an awesome color and really brought out his eyes. I also cropped in really close because I didn't want to show the parking lot in the background.
Kinley-white picket fence and ivy
I drove past this area and thought it would be an awesome background. This is along a greenbelt and this was someone's back fence with overgrown ivy. Again, this is a simple background, but it really added to the picture
Brooke-brick wall
I recently did a senior session. I used the side of my neighbors house. I used careful tilting of my camera to hide the air conditioner and other meters on the side of the house. When I converted it to black and white, it looks quite dramatic.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. Take advantage of the simple backgrounds where you are taking your pictures. There are times you want to convey what is going on, but there also ways to make it look like there is no one else around. I hope this helps!

In all things give thanks
I was cleaning up before some friends came over the other day. I found myself thinking "I am always cleaning up!" The small, still voice in me reminded me of the verse "in all things give thanks." I am so thankful for healthy children who make messes for me to clean up. As my mom reminds me often, soon I will miss having children to clean up after. She's right. Be sure to give thanks today! Here is a sample of what I cleaned up. It's a regular toy store in here!

Happy Mother's Day
There are so many things I love about photography and I am so glad that I have pursued my passion. It really started because I kept taking pictures of my daughter. She was the best model for years. She is a little over it right now, but I am hopeful that will change soon.
I know there are so many places that do photography, but I feel I bring something different to bear. I am a mom. I understand what it means to have a beautiful picture of your child. I strive every time to find a pose that will stand the test of time and be cherished by all who receive it.
I am so thankful for my wonderful mother. She has been such an inspiration in so many ways. She loves Jesus and always has the right verse for me. I love her very, very much. I appreciate her even more that I have children of my own. There are so many things you take for granted until you experience it yourself.
Of course, I can't post without pictures so here are a few of my children. They are so different and I couldn't be more proud to be their mother.
