Something different

I took a morning for myself this week and took some pictures of a friend. She is a children's photographer and understood my desire to take pictures of an adult subject. I love looking at the work of other photographers and wanted to try something different. I know this isn't very far from what I do with children, but it nice to have a subject that takes direction and understands what you are trying to accomplish! Here are two of my favorites. Thank to to my lovely friend, Claire, for making some time for me!

I heart faces-purple challenge

This week's challenge at I heart faces is purple. I love this dress made by Elzawear. My daughter let me snap this picture before we enjoyed our day at the Dallas arboretum. Be sure to click on the link below and see the other entries for this week's challenge!

Summer mini sessions

I am doing my first set of mini sessions next week. There is limited availability for both morning and late evening sessions. Be sure to take advantage of these outdoor sessions!

High Style-DFW Children's photographer

My daughter decided that today was princess day. I was happy to let her play dress up. She also decided that she wanted pictures in "high style." I don't know where she heard that, but it was not from me. I'm not a girly girl. She has been walking around the house for the last few days in bows, headbands and bracelets. She is a fashionista! Well, here are the pictures from her "high style" session. I think she did it to make me happy and she did! I love being able to capture her big personality. Everyone should be friends with someone like my daughter. She can really light up a room! P.S. The poses were all her own. I don't direct her sessions!

Kingston (1 year) DFW children's photographer

One of the amazing parts of my job is capturing milestones for my clients. This little man just turned one. He is so adorable and has the most infectious smile. The first picture was from his newborn session at 8 weeks. Doesn't he look like a baby model?

Baby Sam (5 days)-Grapevine, TX newborn photographer

My friend just had her second baby, little Sam. I joke about little Sam because he was 9 pounds 13 ounces. This guy was such a wonderful sleeper and I got to do so many set ups with him. I love it when that happens. In case you are wondering about the Mickey ears, mom is a travel rep for Disney. You can visit her website at www.mymagicjourneys.com.

Tips for Parents-Document the seemingly insignificant

I just did a one year session and I seemed to be drawn to this little guy's toes and the things I hope I never forget about my kids. I love little toes, dirty feet from playing and crawling legs! It may not seem significant, but you will forget!

Parker (4 weeks)-Carlsbad, NM newborn photographer

It seems to make you feel older when your friend's siblings start having children. I remember when Parker's mom was my daughter's age. My how time flies. I was so glad to get to photograph Parker. I saw a picture of him and immediately fell in love with that strawberry blonde hair. Such a sweet little boy, but at 4 weeks he already knew he didn't like to be hot or without clothes.

Jarren (4) and Isabella (1)-Carlsbad, NM childrens photographer

I love sibling sessions. It is always fun to see the kid's personalities. You never know who is going to be shy and who is going to be the little star. Well, both of these kids were fantastic. I love little boys. It is so cute how they start out shy and then I can't get them to stop smiling at the end. Have I mentioned that I love my job?

Happy Fourth of July

More to come from this awesome session. Both of his grandfathers were military, so this shot seemed very appropriate!

Love!

I love my parents. I just got back from visiting them a few weeks ago. We live 8 hours away and it is really tough. I think it is so good to get back to my home town, where life is a little slower. The speed limit is 35 and after about 3 days I get used to it again. I often forget how nice it is to go places and see people who really know me. My parents have taught me so much--to love Jesus first, to treat people well and that life is not a race. It is easy to forget when I get back to Dallas and the fast life here. I was going back through pictures from my visit and just love this one I snapped when we were at the park with my kids. There is no dramatic background, no fancy settings, just a simple picture of my parents and my daughter. I just thought I'd give you a peek into my life.
