Don't be afraid to recompose

I often tell people just getting into photography that sometimes you have to take a picture from many different angles to get the right effect. The angle doesn't even have to be that dramatic to have a different feel. I am going to demonstrate with two different sets of photos. The first is my daughter riding a 4-wheeler with a friend. In the first picture, I had sun on his face. I recomposed to get this even cuter picture.

I took the second set of photos in Old Town San Diego. The first picture is okay. I just shot down on the arrangement. I think the second picture looks more dramatic at that angle. It is pretty simple stuff, but just don't get locked into one angle of a photo. You may find your favorite one is the not the original set up you had in mind!

Cultivating Confidence-My daughter's lesson back to me!

There is something really beautiful about the innocence of children and their unique perspective on life. My daughter loves dress up--it doesn't matter what day of the week it is. She can find an occassion to be "fashion" as she calls it and have fun. Today was one of those days. My mom bought her this dress so she could play dress up and she wears it all the time. Today it just struck me differently, but my daughter is a genius! Life is too short not to wear your fancy dresses and make yourself feel beautiful. She even obliged me and let me take her pictures--double score for me. I hope you will take it to heart just like I did. I may have to talk one my friend's into taking my picture in a fancy dress!

2012 Senior Rep Wanted-DFW Senior Photographer

I am adding senior photography to my list and am looking for a senior rep to be the face of Tiny Impressions. The lucky senior gets a free session and products to help promote my work. I will accept one senior rep per high school, so if you are interested please contact me. I need a committed senior who is really going to get the word out and the perks will be awesome!

I was trying out a new lens today and Taylor was kind enough to brave the heat so I could try some new locations at and around downtown Dallas. It felt like we were on the surface of the sun and she was a champ pose after pose!

Cultivating Confidence-Allison S's story

Growing up, I was always someone that compared myself to others. I would look at other girls and think, she’s prettier, more athletic, more outgoing and the list could go on. I could always find a reason why I wasn’t good enough. I was also a big people pleaser. I found my self-worth in what others thought of me and therefore did everything I could to make others like me.

I am much more confident in who I am now. I realized that my problem was that I was putting my self-worth in people and not in God. I will never be able to please everyone, but God made me and loves me just the way I am. I will never have to do anything to try to earn his love. Knowing this gives me a deep inner peace about who I am.

As I get older, I realize that most women struggle with the same or similar issues. I wish that I had learned sooner that every girl that I compared myself to has insecurities or things she doesn’t like about herself. I know now that finding my worth in anything but God will always end in disappointment. I am happy about who I am in God regardless of what others think. I have learned that everyone doesn’t have to like me, but true friends will like me faults and all.

Alexandra on her 9th day-Frisco newborn photographer

I always get nervous when parents tell me their children sleep all the time. It usually means they won't when I see them! True to her word, my friend's daughter just slept. She only peeped to let me know she was comfortable. I got so many smiles and so many set ups. I know this is a larger post, but baby girl was a rock star! I even got her big brother in a picture. He is such a concerned brother and kept coming in to check on her during our session. I think he already has this older brother thing down. I hope you enjoy Alexandra's session as much as I did!

Kohen on his third day-Lewisville newborn photographer

Oh, little Kohen, the most alert baby I have ever photographed. We had an hour stare off and he won, but he was cute so it was okay. I think this little boy is going to be a lot like my son-always on the move and looking for his next adventure. He was such a sweet little guy and I am so glad that I get to watch he and his older sister grow up.
